Medical Researcher

About Ancestralize

We are an early-stage startup building software for assessing health status and helping in health improvement. Worsening food quality and pollution are increasing chronic illnesses. The health industry is on the wrong track, focusing on treating symptoms with drugs instead of curing diseases. Our mission is to solve the health crisis by equipping people with knowledge and tools to defeat chronic diseases.

About the job

As a researcher, you will help build the medical intelligence of our app. The software will guide users on their journey toward health through lifestyle and dietary changes, powered by AI (a Bayesian network). The “brain” of the system is a knowledge base that generates an assessment of potential diseases. The app will help the user create an improvement plan and track progress.

We look for people with in-depth knowledge of disease mechanisms and an understanding of the impact of evolution on biology. We only hire people with a critical mindset.

Your activities will be:

  • Researching the causal relationships between chronic diseases and related variables (risk factors, pathological mechanisms, symptoms, lab markers, etc.)

  • Evaluating medical literature for relative risks, sensitivity, and specificity values for labs, and other statistical information needed for probabilistic disease models.

  • Drawing disease mechanisms, adding probability estimations based on literature data, etc., to our Knowledge Base Editor graphical tool, and improving the accuracy of predictions of the Bayesian network.

  • Supporting users

We are seeking individuals with:

  • In-depth knowledge of disease mechanisms

  • A strong understanding of the impact of evolution on biology

  • A critical and analytical mindset
